Zeppelin Power Systems Solutions For Power & Heat

We supply complete emergency power systems equipped with generators from Caterpillar

In the event of a grid failure, emergency power systems take over the power supply. After a brief interruption, usually in the range of seconds, the systems automatically start up and reliably cover the load for extended periods.

We supply complete emergency power systems equipped with generators from Caterpillar

Our emergency power systems are equipped with all key components

The core of our emergency power systems are the powerful and durable Cat emergency generators, available in a power range from 10 to 5,200 kVA. Our extensive range of Cat diesel gensets allows us to quickly and comprehensively meet the specific requirements of your application.

An integrated fuel tank system ensures a continuous fuel supply for extended periods, while soundproofing systems reduce noise levels and protect the surrounding environment. Our modern emergency power systems are also equipped with exhaust systems featuring exhaust after-treatment technologies to comply with environmental regulations. The advanced control and switching systems ensure automated startup in case of an emergency.

Run times of up to 72 hours

The runtime of the emergency power supply depends on the size of the fuel tank. Typically, emergency power systems are designed for a runtime of 8 hours, while systems for hospitals need to run for 24 hours, and data center systems must be available for 48 to 72 hours.

It is crucial that the emergency power system provides sufficient capacity to handle all loads that need to be powered in an emergency.

We are happy to advise you on the installation of the appropriate emergency power system and determine your requirements together!

Uninterrupted and long-term supply: Emergency power systems and UPS systems working together

Uninterrupted and long-term supply: Emergency power systems and UPS systems working together

In a comprehensive emergency power solution, emergency power systems and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) often work together to ensure a seamless power supply.

Although the start-up time of emergency power systems is only a matter of seconds, hospitals or data centres, for example, are dependent on a seamless, uninterrupted supply. For this reason, emergency power systems in critical areas are combined with systems for uninterruptible power supply (UPS). UPS systems immediately supply power from batteries and maintain the power supply until the NEA steps in and takes over.

Essential protection against data loss and operational disruptions

UPS systems are typically designed for short durations, often just a few minutes to several hours, to bridge the time until the emergency power system (NEA) starts up. UPS systems are commonly used in data centers, communication facilities, and other critical systems where even brief power interruptions can lead to data loss or system failures.

Upon request, we offer integrated emergency power systems and combine modern uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS) with high-performance emergency power systems (EPS). In this way, we ensure a reliable and uninterruptible supply for critical applications.

The operation of emergency power systems, simply explained

Die Funktionsweise von Netzersatzanlagen (NEA) einfach erklärt

In normal operation, your building receives power from the public grid, while the emergency power system (NEA) remains in standby mode. An automatic transfer switch (ATS) continuously monitors the grid power supply.

1

1

The control unit and the ATS continuously monitor the grid power quality for voltage fluctuations and other anomalies.

2

2

In the event of a power failure or grid disturbance, the ATS activates the generator of the emergency power system (NEA). Within a few seconds, the NEA begins supplying power.

3

3

The ATS automatically switches to the NEA, which supplies power to the building. Once the grid power is restored, the ATS switches back to the public grid.

The different roles of NEA and UPS

Emergency power systems and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) play distinct but complementary roles in ensuring power supply. Often used together, these systems provide a seamless, long-term supply for all critical loads. UPS systems offer immediate bridging and voltage regulation, while NEA provide long-term power security.

In the event of a power outage, the UPS switches to battery operation within milliseconds, ensuring that critical devices continue to run without interruption. They provide immediate power from batteries to protect critical loads and ensure continuous operation until a stable power source is available.

NEA systems are typically diesel gensets capable of providing power for extended periods. In the event of a failure, they take a few seconds to start up and then take over the power supply from the UPS, which switches back to charging mode.

Essential for highly sensitive areas

The use of UPS systems in combination with emergency power systems is essential in sensitive areas such as hospitals, data centers, industrial facilities, and the financial services industry. Even brief power interruptions can lead to significant damage, data loss, and operational disruptions in these sectors.
