Key benefits for your organization
Energy efficiency
Combined heat and power (CHP) plants are based on cogeneration. CHP increases the overall efficiency of fuel utilization by also making use of the generated heat. The heat recovery from gas-powered gensets can make operations more cost-effective and sustainable.
high cost-effectiveness
Our CHP systems achieve very high electrical efficiencies and even overall efficiency levels of more than 90 percent.
high system availability
The core of our CHP systems are Caterpillar gas engine gensets, known for their robustness, long lifespan, and reliability. Our Fleet Operations Center monitors the system, detects potential failures early and ensures that the system operates safely.
extensive service network
Our service stations are widely distributed across Germany, ensuring a quick response time and high availability. Our service technicians are therefore quickly on-site and can promptly address any issues with your system in the event of a failure.

Robust Caterpillar gensets are the heart of our combined heat and power plants

Gas-powered gensets up to 4.5 MW individual capacity
We provide turnkey combined heat and power (CHP) plants based on gas-powered gensets from Caterpillar. With electrical outputs ranging from 400 kW to 4,500 kW per unit, they cover a wide range of applications.
The CG132 (B) series starts at 400 kW and is available up to 800 kW. The gensets from the CG170 (B) and G3500 H series are designed for electrical outputs between 1,000 kW and 2,500 kW.
The CG260-16 series, with an electrical output of 4.5 MW, is suitable for high demand applications.
Our gensets can be operated either based on electricity market demand or heat-driven.
Robust, stable, durable
Cat gensets are characterized by robustness, stability, and high efficiency. These qualities not only ensure high system availability but also ensure that your combined heat and power (CHP) plant operates reliably and economically. By using Cat gensets, you benefit from a durable and resilient solution that performs optimally under demanding operating conditions.
Do you have any questions? We are happy to assist you in realizing your combined heat and power (CHP) plant.

CHP operation with hydrogen gensets
Our gensets are designed to operate with up to 25% hydrogen content in the natural gas mixture. For specific applications, the use of 100% hydrogen is also possible through targeted modifications of the gensets. Caterpillar aims to make all engines fully hydrogen-compatible in the coming years. Retrofit kits for adapting existing systems will be provided gradually. With these hydrogen-capable gensets, we are setting new standards in sustainable and technologically advanced power and heat generation.

More efficiency through large heat pumps in CHP systems

A combined solution of large heat pumps and combined heat and power plants (CHP plants) helps to increase the overall efficiency of the CHP system and reduce environmental impact.
Large heat pumps utilize waste heat from the CHP process and elevate the temperature of the recovered heat, making it suitable for use in district heating networks, local heating networks, or industrial processes.
By integrating large heat pumps, CHP systems can enhance their efficiency and cost-effectiveness. We offer innovative solutions for demanding applications, whether for district or local heating networks, building heat, or process heat.
Heat-driven and power-driven CHP plants
CHP plants most commonly operate in parallel grid mode. In this setup, the generator is connected to the power grid and generates electricity alongside other power plants. In this mode, CHP systems can be operated either power-driven or heat-driven.
Heat-driven combined heat and power (CHP) plants are systems where the primary focus is on heat generation. The operation is based on the demand for thermal energy, which is needed for heating, hot water, or industrial processes. Depending on the CHP system, individual buildings, district heating networks, or entire industrys can be supplied. The generated electrical energy is used as a by-product and either consumed on-site or fed into the public grid. This operating mode achieves high overall efficiency, as the waste heat produced during electricity generation is used effectively.
Power-driven CHP systems are typically operated when the generated electricity is needed directly or should be fed into the public grid. These CHP systems are mainly used for decentralized power generation and usually run continuously or as needed when the generated electricity can be used economically or energetically. The heat produced is utilized as a by-product. This operating mode is particularly beneficial for customers who aim to achieve the economic viability of their system through the marketing or use of electrical power and have a concurrent heat demand.
