Zeppelin Power Systems will remain on hand to support its customers as a reliable partner and will continue its service and spare parts business for Caterpillar MaK engines. The manufacturer Caterpillar and official Zeppelin partner had announced on July 7, 2021, that it would phase out production of new medium-speed MaK engines at its sites in Germany and China by the end of 2022, and that it would focus exclusively on after-sales service in the future.

Zeppelin Power Systems will therefore no longer sell new MaK-brand engines in the future, but it will fulfill existing orders and remain fully available to its customers with its worldwide service network. In cooperation with Caterpillar, the company will continue to offer customized service agreements and services for existing MaK engines. These include maintenance, repairs, original MaK spare parts, mobile technicians on site, and digital solutions such as real-time analyses of engine operating data. Zeppelin Power Systems has its own MaK workshops and a comprehensive in-house parts store. In addition, the company offers a complete range of services for turbochargers as a certified service center for the Napier and KBB brands.

MaK is known as a leading provider of premium marine engines and generator sets for the power plant, ferry, cruise, cargo, fishing, governmental, tug and salvage, and dredging segments for both inland waterways and offshore. Its product line features diesel, gas, and dual-fuel engines, including main propulsion engines ranging from 1,020 to 16,800 kW and generator sets ranging from 979 to 16,111 kWe.
